Live, Work, Play

Central Parkway YMCA

Cincinnati, OH

Discovery

Sitting in the transitional area between downtown Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine, this project includes a 78,000-sf YMCA and 65 senior living units in the fourth through ninth floors. The Central Parkway YMCA was originally built in 1917. The YMCA, 3CDC, and the Model Group hired CR to create a design to restore the true character of the building, preserving the key historical elements.

Creation

The design of the 65 affordable senior living units takes advantage of the building’s numerous windows, providing bright, natural light and views of downtown Cincinnati. Lounges on the fourth and fifth floors and a larger activity room create space for group gatherings, and a secured accessible entry leads to a lobby with mail service and an elevator. In addition to residential updates, CR also redesigned the fitness facilities to provide better flow and connection between workout stations, creating new and renovated office space, a new board room, and a training room.
